Questions about Icesheet

It shares the practice ice an association holds among its teams. You paste the ice slots (arena, pad, date, start, end, full, half or third ice, prime or non-prime) and the teams (division, tier, target hours, preferred arena, blackout dates), set the association's rules, and it allocates every slot it can so each team gets as close to its target as the rules allow, with the shortfalls explained. Then it prints team schedules and arena sheets.

Ice size and sharing (full ice takes one team, half ice two, third ice three, and only divisions that use that size), who may share a slot, each division's earliest and latest times, blackout dates, one practice a day, the minimum gap between practices, teams that share a coach never on the ice at the same time (with travel time between arenas), late slot caps and locks. They are never broken silently: a lock that breaks one is left out and named, and a team short of its hours is listed with the reason.

Every team below its target is listed with the hours it got, the hours it wanted and the reasons: how many slots fell outside its division's hours, on its blackout dates, on a day it already skates, too close to another practice, clashed with a coach's other team, or were already full with other teams. The example full slot names each team on it with its share of its own target. Those teams may be further ahead or further behind, because the allocator also weighs prime time, weeks and arenas. The shortfall is shared in proportion to each team's target, so one team does not carry it all.

You choose. The default counts time on the ice, so a team on half ice for an hour gets an hour. The other setting counts the share of the ice, so the same slot counts as half an hour. Pick the one your association's policy uses.

You mark each slot prime or non-prime and set the time after which a slot is late and before which it is early. Within a division, the allocator evens out each team's share of prime time and its count of early and late slots, and the fairness report shows both by team.

Yes. Drag a team to another slot in the calendar, or pick a slot from the list on a selected team, and the rule flags update as you move. Lock the ones you are sure of, then rebalance the rest around the locks. The team view suggests swaps that keep every hard rule.

Each team's schedule downloads as a calendar file (.ics) that phone and desktop calendars import. The allocation, the slots and the teams also download as CSV for a website or a team app import.

The association decides the policy, Icesheet applies it. It has no view on which team deserves more ice. It applies the targets, tiers, curfews and caps you enter, and reports the result so the association can see it and change the rules if it disagrees.

No. Earliest and latest times, late slot caps and ice sizes by division are your association's settings. The allocator keeps the settings you enter and makes no claim about what is right for any age group.
